Main effects plot for surface roughness (Ra). In the plots, the x-axis indicates the value of each cutting parameters (v, f, d) at three level and y-axis the response value (here, surface roughness). Horizontal line indicates the mean value of the response. The main effects plots are used to determine the optimal design conditions to obtain the optimum value of surface finish. The main effect plot in Fig. 2 indicates that, the surface finish is eloquently improved by increasing cutting speed (v) and depth of cut (d)
